    hi,

Just looking for some views really. I applied for a Data Entry position on the 5/8/2014. Never heard anything back so just forgot about it. Then on the 16/01/15 I get an email saying the position is no longer available. Didn't think much of it at the time but it just seems odd (imo) I would expect them to say I wasn't successful or something along them lines but this seems like there was maybe a delay in them getting the application which I made through Irishjobs.ie. Or i could possibly be reading to much into it

What are you hoping to achieve?

Well I'd be pretty annoyed if it was a case that my application wasn't received on time. As i said I could be reading too much into but generally it's a case of "we had a high volume of applicants and you were unsuccessful". It just seemed odd after 6 months to get a response like that

Are you not annoyed enough as it is?

I'd be more annoyed if it was a case that my application wasn't received by them in time. As I said in my post I was just wondering if anyone else found this strange

I wouldn't find it strange to be honest, but a lot would depend on who the employer was.
To me it looks as if the job has gone.

Yeah i emailed them for clarification. They said they keep the application on file for a few months and then close it. Just never got a response like it before. Anyway, the job hunt goes on

It is January and most likely the DBAs where cleaning up the system and something triggered an auto response to you... The start of the year always produces some choice FUs :D
