I have a Seagate Freeagent external drive which recently stopped working. It is visible in device manager but not in Explorer. It sounds like it is spinning up but I cannot access it, anyone any ideas.

When you have it plugged in, do Start >> Run, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. See if you can see it in the Disk Management utility - if you can, and it shows an active partition, right click on it and assign it with a drive letter and see if you can see it in Windows Explorer.
