full assessment of housing need??

I applied for rent supplement in Sept when the place I worked as closed down.

They`ve been tagging me along since then asking for extra documents (which were never asked for in the first application, mind you) and it has now been 3 months of email tag with these people.

Yesterday I got an email saying `As I do not accept the `rent book´as proof that you have paid rent for a six month period within the last twelve months, I have to ask you to provide the result (letter) of a FULL ASSESSMENT OF HOUSING NEED from the housing authority.

Well first off, he asked me to send in the rent book yet now isn´t accepting it? It`s signed by my landlord who also sent him a letter confirming I´ve been a tenant on my own here for four years and a copy of the letter from the PRTB when I moved in.

I`d love to know who he thinks has been paying my rent for me!

Also what`s this letter he´s looking for? As far as I can tell it`s for people who are looking to live in property supported by the government?

That is not my plan as I`m opening a business shortly with an investor and going on the STEA which is why I can`t work until then (on advice of the social welfare office). Are they actually just trying to make this as impossible as they can or...

It appears to me that you have satisfied the 6/12 months renting privately particularly with a letter from the landlord.
I'd respond by pointing to the operational guidelines with a deadline of appealing it.

Have you also proven that your financial circumstances have deteriorated since you started renting?

Yes, they had bank statement, my p45, letter from my ex employer. I jumped through every hoop they gave me. I´m so frustrated I can actually barely contain myself.

And actually what really bothers me is that this was all meant to be backlogged. On Nov 27 th when he had all his documents he told me it´d be backlogged since then so I was expecting nearly 8 weeks of supplement - now I´m sure he`ll start the process all over again and it simply isn`t fair when I`ve been working fulltime my whole life.

Do you know what this assessment is about?

You need to go to your local authorities or county council and apply to be put on the housing list ,this is your assessment
And im pretty sure you wont be getting back dated rent supplement

What`s a housing list though? I`m not moving

If he wants to be a jerk for no reason and screw me around that`s his decision but it`s not going unnoticed though. I will make a huge deal of this

The housing list for local authority/social housing its part requirement if you want rent supplement you have to apply for social housing ,

Then your property your renting has to come under the limits for your area

I don´t really know what you mean by `social housing. I received rent supplement in 2012 for 2 weeks before finding my most recent job and I didn´t have to do this. I was in the same flat I`m in now.

I wonder for your most recent correspondence ie yhe rent book snd the letter from PRTB go missing/get lost? It seems there has definitely been a communication breakdown.

    Hi,

I don´t think so as I sent everything in together but have had about enough. I have 5 pages of emails between this man and I and have underlined the important parts ie `` you need ONLY send in your rent book.```I sent in my book AND letter from the landlord then he waits 2 MONTHS to send me a letter saying he´s not accepting them. Meanwhile I ve been living off 88 quid per week cos the other hundred of my JSA is going to cover rent.
