    Hi,
I had a look at Nissan Pulsar 1.2 SV recently, price quoted as 22,895(incl. metallic paint). I am interested in this car as I have a old car which qualifies for the scrappage deal.

Any opinions about buying this car?

    regards
    kpn

Its good value with 4k off. It isn't a class leader by any means. A modern day Tiida/Almera/Sunny.

Resale value isn't likely to be great. If they're knocking €4k off at launch, one can only imagine what they'll be doing in 4 years time. Doesn't show confidence.

    Thanks Colm_mcm.
Agree, it's not best car for that price, but I think I was interested mainly due to scrappage deal. I just compared similar cars and looks like it's more expensive so I will think again.
May be I will have a look at note sv 1.2 and see.

You need to think about what you want from a car rather than what car has the best discounts etc.

What do you drive now and what do you like/dislike about it, how does it fit your needs?

The alloys on the SV look like cheap aftermarket rims for a totally different car, if I was buying I'd go with the base model and hub caps which look like a better design.

I think with 4k discount its a real bargain - circa 16k. It might not be the best car in the class, but the 1.2 Turbo engine is quite powerful and economical and the car has decent space inside. I think you'll find it hard to get a better new car for that money

    Thanks guys for the feedback.

    I take your point colm_mcm.

Yeah, you are right, I shouldn't decide mainly based ondiscounts I get for the new car.

I drive old 00 corolla, its a time to change my car, so I was thinking tobuy a used car, came to know the Nissan scrappage, thought that will be goodidea to go for a new one as this fits mybudget (may be 2k more thought!) that was the main reason but after taking a Nissannote test drive , now I am feeling that its good deal , may be its good to get4k for my old car (due to scrappage deal) but investing on Nissan note looksnot a good decision, at least for now!

How did you find the note vs your corolla? Should gave similar cabin space anyway.

Heavy depreciation is only a factor if you're thinking of selling the car in the next few years.

My corolla looks bit better in terms of passenger seat space, boot and theinside finish (even though my car is old one).

I expected to be bit more appealing finish inside on the note as its new, also feltlike bit noisy (not sure it’s enginestuff or outside sound or something). Overall I didn’t get the good feelfactor after driving a new nissan note.

Time to look at other stuff so.

Have you ever seen a Toyota Verso-S?

Same idea as a note but better build and finish. Lovely engine too.

Windsor airside have one too that's more expensive but would give you an idea if you like them.

That's if you like the idea of the note.

    Thanks Colm_mcm.
No, I haven't seen verso-s before, looks bit small but I will look at it.

Honda Jazz, Hyundai ix20 and Kia Venga are similar to the Note/Verso-S too.

Thanks to all for your input.

I see all the cars mentioned are bit smallar than what I have now (toyotacorolla).

Initially I looked at nissan note just because I thought I can buy a new car for the price which I planned to buy a used car but after taking test drive I decided not go with Note.

So I am going to start looking at used cars with max budget of 10k(preferablyToyota, Honda, Nissan, vw (saloon, upto 1.6 engine size)).

    Thanks

Check this out as an example, dont worry about the 1.8 bit, they're very good in fuel and are one of the most hassle free cars you can buy.
