I've just 're connected my roof aerial to supply Saorview throughout the house. It's pointing at Claremont Carn. I have perfect signal on Channel 56. However channel 52 has 82% signal strength but 0 - 10% signal quality. My aerial is wideband grid.

Is this with a direct connection between aerial & receiver or, is there a Sky box or other device with a modulator, in the mix?

It's going from aerial to modulator, modulator to sky box aerial in and out through RF2 to TVswith modulator

Does the same happen if you connect the aerial direct to a TV bypassing all the other stuff ?

A UHF modulator takes an AV feed & puts it in an RF channel, in the same band as the Saorview signal. (Those typically used in domestic equipment interfere strongly with the lower adjacent channel too.) Your TVs won't have modulators, but demodulators to get the audio & video back.
