Paying V Avoiding Luas Fine

    Hi all,

I've been using the dart service legitimately over the past 2 months via a leap card. Yesterday I got on the luas for the first time. I thought I had tagged on but was told then by inspector I had not. Basically I thought I could go upto 5€ deficit and the card would still tag but I was wrong.

The inspector issued me a 45€ fine. He took my name from my age card and then asked for my address-I gave him a fake address.

Would I be able to get away with not paying this fine as the company have no legitimate address for me and any address which is linked to my name is in a different county ( Plus, do they even have the database capabilities to find any address nationally linked to my name?) .

Does anybody know if I can avoid paying this fine and it would go into the companies bad debts or am I screwed because they have my name? Anybody heard of any similar situations? Or have experience in this

Apologies to anyone who is offended by my desire to avoid a fine.

They have both your Leap Card number and your Age Card details. It would be unwise to think you got away with it.

You can pay on-line and nothing more will be said.

I would advise to pay the fine. And in future check that you are tagged on.

It will, but you need to have a positive balance to start a journey.
