Broadband opinions

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right forum to be posting this but i need peoples opinions on broadband. I'm in north dublin, I've had an O2 dongle for years but its gone bad plus i need a huge amount of usage which i don't get on the dongle (only 15gb a month) I will also be looking into getting a new mobile contract and home phone if people know of any great deals with excellent reception out there. Or i'd just settle with a brilliant broadband. I've looked on vodafone and eircom but unsure of reception quality and if its any good for the money. Would appreciate the help. T.I.A

Do UPC serve your area? Do you have an active landline?

Yes, UPC serve the area and there is an active landline... I'm not looking for tv included, so that'd probably rule out UPC? unless they do broadband on its own?

35 euro per month seems to be good value for fixed line broadband. I wouldn't advise mobile broadband because to get any sort of decent allowance you need to spend almost the same as fixed line broadband and most companies have asinine policies if you go above your limit (except Vodafone from what I can tell).

They do broadband and phone, you don't need to pay the line rental on the house phone anymore.


The only €35 package I can think of is vodafone, which has a fair usage policy. Most other fixed line bb packages over the phone line are €45+

Vodafone's fair usage is 300 gb and its €10 per 100 gb above that. Very few people would go above the 300 gb.

Dont bundle.

If you're paying for TV you'd be nuts to have anything other than Sky. Netflix and freeview are just so much than paying for anything else.

If UPC are there for broadband (and they have proper fibre >100Mbit) they're the only show in town.

I'd rather a tiny amount more per month and have the best.

UPC seem like a great option for you.

€35 - 60mb/s + phone
€40 - 120mb/s + unlimited anytime national calls
€45 - 240mb/s + unlimited anytime national and mobile calls

You don't need to get TV from them and you can then cancel your phone line and save the line rental on that.

Vastly superior to o2 mobile dongle, you won't know yourself.

UPC for sure. Fastest speed/price ratio. You don't need to buy TV. I have UPC 240 without it.
