I bought the "Fence on" from Suirway automation, does anyone know how to put credit on it so it sends back the text message? I was to ring today but forgot.

I was giving him €100 for one. Glad now he wouldn't take it. Way overpriced for what they are.

Neighbour of mine is playing with building an app for the phone that will turn off fence when ever you enter a blodk of ground and switch back on when you leave it.basically it uses the gps in your phone and you set the boundries for your yard and boundry ditchs and when ever you walk out the land it will switch off the fence and switch it on when you leave .obviously it will be off when you spreading bag or whatever but thats low risk anyway, its going away and forgeting to switch on is the bigger problem

What's wrong with the switches? Have 4 here in different areas turn them off there if you need to do work in a certain area

Interesting, but surely simply a notification on the top of your phone would solve that problem? Like every time you have the fence off there is a notification icon telling you that! Going one step further would be a signal strength indicated (very easy to wire up one at the electric fence itself where you got the gsm anyways, however I guess it would be more useful at the very end of the fence. This simply measures the strength of the fence and if it drops too low it sends you a text.

On the app your friend is making, I know I don't bother with gps on my phone, eats too much battery.

Was thinking the same, but you need to run your farm from your office these days it seems. ;-)

I am just putting in a few manual cut out switches in a few key locations that are visable to casual observation.

I don't see the value in gsm switch for a fence. The remotes available now would be better money spent.

My rule is that all areas are to be left on 100% of the time

The gsm switch for water on the other hand would be very handy I think.

Have one here great job. Always have phone in the pocket so if I spot a problem when I'm over the field a quick call and the fence is off. Another call and its on again.
Just go onto the O2 website to top it up I don't bother topping it up anymore no need used to it now

I've a similar set up. If I'm down the field and need the fencer off. I ring the mother, she tips out to the shed and unplugs it.
Another quick call and its on again too.

The best thing about my system is that it works for dinners to, and cups of tea :-)
