Anyone up there today or recently, is it ok to cycle up as I'm in the area tomorrow so was thinking of attempting it from Bunclody.

Much too cold, there will probably be ice in the town itself never mind 500m up the hill.

Winter conditions on Mount Leinster are often very much more severe than elsewhere in the region, and belie the fact that it is only around 900m (from recollection) high at the peak - 600m or so around Nine Stones. The roads are mostly on the northern side and means that is often really icy. Not to be risked, IMO, until there is a rise in temperatures.....

Was up around there last night on the mtb....I wouldn't chance it to be honest

There's been some sleet today as well which won't help

Took the road from Kilkenny and went up as far as Bunclody to see what conditions were like and I thought the road wasn't too bad. So when I got to Bunclody I decided to go for it and went over it this afternoon, wasn't too bad until near the top (about final 1.5km) but once I reached the gate there was no way I was going to the mast. It got very cold up there and the descent was nearly as tough as the ascent.

Fair play for getting as far as the gate in this weather, no mean feat. Planning on a spin up there in April for the blackstairs challenge if I don't get there beforehand. I've yet to make it up to the mast, but plan to this summer.
