ewi, chasing services into cavity block?

I'm at the planning stage of renovating a 1955 semi d bungalow. I have my prices for ewi and am happy to go with it, even though I have to chip the wet dash off. One thing I hadn't thought about is, how do I run cables for switches and sockets etc on the external walls? Will chasing the blocks ruin the wall? Will I have to dryline and provide a service cavity? If any of you have experience of this I would like to hear about it. One more question, I have been reading some articles that discuss pumping the blocks with foam to stop the heat rising inside the wall and escaping. Does anyone have any experience of this?

More knowledgeable people will be along but if any builder tells you that they will pump the blocks for you, nod, smile and walk away. The only worthwhile way of retrofitting insulation to a hollow block wall is external wall insulation. Anything else will cause damp and mold issues, though they may hide behind dry lining for a few years.

Thanks, I meant filling the blocks as well as the ewi. Not sure if what I wrote explained that properly.
