I bought a car over the weekend and the dealer gave me a 1 year warranty for a paint protection & also upholstery protection system called GardX. The dealership gave me products and told me to apply once a year.

Never heard of the product before. Has anyone on Boards.ie come across this product??

Never heard of it before - had a look through their site and some things are a bit bending the truth!

This video is a bit over dramatic

The only thing that will damage the paintwork that aggressively is poor wash techniques, to a lesser degree bird poo etchings and less so again, acid rain / water etching.

Perhaps it is a decent product, but Id be sticking to the tried and tested. There's no such thing as lifetime either. When you see kits with Jumbo Sponges and Leather Chamois, for example, you'd have to question the quality also. And pictures of the beading dont suggest there is as much silicone in it as there would want to be.

Sure if its free, I suppose there'd be no harm in testing it on a small area of another "less important" car and see what happens. The fabric guard would be no harm in trying on a car mat and see if it offers any protection at all.

Pretty huge at the minute through dealers. Surprised ya swung it free ha ha. The protection package was €300 when I seen it last.

No idea what it's actually like, at a complete guess I'd say middle of the road. The problem with allot of the dealer protection products is they rush their valeter so much that it's not applied anywhere near correctly. Even if it was those valeter don't have time or knowledge (in most cases), or tools to remove defects so they are just sealing those defects in.

What you were given was the after pack. If you got it free, no harm anyway.

I'd love to check it out and also keep an eye on it to see how long it might actually last.

Well the dealer said it was free but I wasn't given an option on it. Had a quick look at the pack they supplied with the car. Got a sponge, microfiber cloth, window sealer and a big no no a wash and wax bottle. From my understanding always ensure that the car wash and wax are separate. Never the one.
Will check it this evening and give a better description of what I got.
