Has anybody looked into this year?

Just had a look on the site, no mention of prizes, no venue for finals, very vague answers to any questions.

Is this a complete wast of time?

Looked at it as well, if it meant the possibility of a few games on different courses, I would definitely consider it for that reason, rather than the prizes on offer.

It all looks very vague to me is all, no results from last year either which is bizarre

Last years final was in carton house over two days. It was televised on setanta Ireland. Tis legit alright.

    Who won it last year?

Two lads from limerick won the fourball and a fella from Clare won the singles

Here's the tread on last year's inaugural event:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057274074

Didn't enter as didn't know about it until near the final stages. Good idea but it doesn't sound like good value for money, €40 entry fee but you then have to organise and pay for any of your away matches plus there are no prizes to speak off on offer even for county champions. Given the feedback from last year's event will not be entering this year either although singles matchplay is a good and enjoyable format.

So €40 entry, you pay for paying away matches, no prizes?

As seen in another post, nobody even knows who won, just "2 lads from limerick, a lad from clare"

Ah here gluck, this crowd need some lessons in PR, they could have been smart and maybe got on board with Top Golfer maybe.

    Im out.

Played last year, not a bad format but the draw was a mess it should have been made so you could see how you would progress round to round.

I'd spend an extra €10 and play the european match play if it is close to you.

played in it last year. progressed quite well in the four ball. wouldn't play it again. poorly organised re handicaps etc which can be seen in last years thread. and also preference for home games given to those who played there matches first in the previous round (very unfair as difficult to organise a four ball amongst 4 working males). each round should be drawn for opponents and for home and away. FA cup style

    Hi Guys ,

Just to let you all know , played in this comp this year. Here's my thoughts on it,

I liked the draw process , get your match played early and get home advantage in the next round . I made it to the finals in Carton House and had only 1 away match from 7 matches played. A huge advantage.

Didn't make it to Carton last year (beaten in the first round) .The set up in Carton was fantastic. I've played a lot of inter-Club but this is a a different level , sign in at reception ,nice welcome , great goodie bag. hat , top , gloves , balls ect and a very nice County trophy.

Very well organised on the day and no slow play (plenty of marshals). Great to see Setanta Sport supporting this event and I look forward to seeing it on the tele. ( Nov 17 @19:45) .

Great comp and I'm deff going to enter next year, Great experience and value for money.

    Hope this helps !
