Hi, I am looking for some planning advice. We are looking to extend our kitchen by 6 feet and I am wondering if we need planning. It is an old house (circa 1900) in dublin 7 and we would have less than 25 as metre in the back garden. Has anyone any experience with a similar issue? Any advice would be great. Thanks, andrea

Hi, I'm afraid professional advice cannot be sought on this forum or website.

If you require professional advice, please engage the services of a relevant professional. In your case, your architect should be appraised of the relevant planning requirements. Obviously, it goes without saying that if you are just planning on hiring Mick's building company down the road, you will need to ascertain that they are appropriately qualified or seek alternative advice.

You could check whether it would count as exempted development or not.

    Also see here.

Nobody here can advise you on whether your particular case counts as exempted development, because of the forum charter.

If you need professional advice on the matter, you could consider hiring an engineer/architect or a professional planner.
