    Hey,

I entered a facebook competition with optilase for free eye surgery. I didnt think much more about it until I received an email on Monday informing me that I had won. Then I got a call from their marketing department who set me up with an appointment next Wednesday at their surgery in town.

I had never seriously considered surgery before and have been wearing glasses since I was 9. Im fairly short sighted, -4 in each eye.

Im wondering what to expect, Im very attached to my eyeballs. Is free laser eye surgery too good to be true?

If you have never seriously considered it then don't get it done, least of all with a commercial clinic giving it away in competitions!!! How unethical is that?

Hi, first of all congratulations on your win. I had laser surgery done 10 years ago with Optilase in Belfast, and it was the best decision I ever made. The difference of life without glasses is amazing. Why not do some research, speak to someone who has had it done. I would not dismiss it yet. You could go for the consultation, without making a commitment.

I'd advise you to get a consultation elsewhere (a clinic or hospital based company) and compare it to the one you get with Optilase.
Personally, I still wouldn't get the surgery with them but it would be hard to turn it down if it's free so if the consultations results marry with one another, proceed with caution.
