down home in cork at christmas I was told about "the dude" who was setting up homes with a box for a one off installation charge and a minimum subscription of a tenner a month, there were channels for everyone from the sports lover to the music lover. i was informed that all I needed was broadband and everything ran through that.

this sounded highly illegal to me, like in the good old days of the "black box" but I was assured that it was not, just a re-scrambling of the airwaves through the UK.

I'm as ignorant to the ways of the world as ever but if it meant doing away with some very high charges month to month, i would say that an old timer like me would be tempted.

what am I missing here ? Has anyone seen this and if so is it illegal? with all these Humax boxes and freesat etc, I wasn't sure if all this was fine and I was missing a trick by paying 125 a month for broadband and tv ?

Yeah it's illegal. I'd steer clear if I was you op.

I don't believe anyone has ever been charged for viewing such streams, but that of itself does not mean it could not be illegal. :)
