to use a splitter on a TV aeriel in - with saorview cable going into one, and sky eye plugged into the other?

Currently i have 2 cables running down to my kitchen TV - Saorview, and the other is carrying sky magic eye signal.

My TV only has one aerial IN port - so i'm wondering can a simple splitter carry both signals successfully to the TV.

Do you have a Saorview feed where the Sky box is located, if so it can be carried on the RF2 out of the Sky box on a single cable to the kitchen TV.

I think that's how it was originally done.
    So here's how it was:

Saorview cable came down to a point where main TV is.
Cable taken from that point - and plugged into Aerial IN on Sky box.
RF1 - cable to main TV
RF2 back up to the attic and into distribution box

This worked - however i could never watch RTE1 HD on Saorview whilst Sky box was on - mostly it would say No Signal, or otherwise it would be just constantly breaking up.
As soon as i would power off the Sky box - signal was perfect on RTE1 HD.
I noticed the same for UTV once it came live earlier this month.

Hence why i've gone and changed the setup slightly as it was driving me daft.

If you were loosing RTE1 with the original setup, its possible the RF output from the Sky box was interfering with the frequency RTE 1 is on.

With the older Sky boxes that have RF2 out connection, you can change the RF output channel No frequency of the Sky box. Its a number between 22 and 68.

This is in a hidden Menu. You may have to google it to get the exact procedure, as I can't remember it exactly.

Once you change the number, you will have to re-tune your TV in the Kitchen to get the Sky picture there.

The idea is to find a number that won't interfere with your Saorview signal, so you may have to try this a few times.

It would help if you knew what frequencies you are getting Saorview on atm, but that depends on which transmitter you are getting your RTEs from.

    Thanks a lot Delta Lima,

I switched everything back to how it was - but changed the Channel Frequency for the RF2 port from 56 to 68.
That has done the job - wish i had asked the question about the dodgy RTE1 signal before i went changing anything last night.

    Appreciate the assistance however.
