    Hi everyone,

I'm totally new to this, just wondering if some kind soul could help advise me on a jobs issue. I qualified in 2013 as a physiotherapist. I have not been able to find suitable paid employment since graduating and my personal circumstances have meant that I could not leave my locality to find work.

I have been working voluntarily to keep myself in practice since I graduated. My dad has just passed away too so I need to be at home now more than ever to be with my family.

In the near future I intend on going to the UK to find work as its virtually impossible to find anything here. My biggest fear is that a prospective employer will see my CV and wonder why I haven't found employment so far.

I feel I am being left behind and I really don't know what to do. I recently applied for a position where I live and psyched myself up for it and convinced myself I'd get it. On the application I really sold myself and told them I'd work at a lower rate just to gain experience. Perhaps I sounded desperate. Today I received an e-mail from them thanking me for my application but we will not be progressing you to interview on this occasion. Its so disheartening.

Apologies for the sob story I'm not normally a moaner but I honestly feel like I'm in a rut. Times have been so difficult for me lately. I'd love to finally land a job but fear I've left it too long to start my jobs search but personal factors meant I couldn't until now.

Have I left it too late? Any advice would be much appreciated.

In the current environment, it is commonplace to have some gaps in employment history - employers focus more on relevance than chronology. They look at your CV for appropriate skills and experience, and, as long as there is no 'bombs' hiding behind those gaps, they tend not to fixate on finding someone with an unbroken record of employment. So, make sure your CV highlights the value you can bring to the company.

Thank you for your reply. I was so fear full as a new batch of graduates have since come after me and makes me a little edgy to think employers would over look me for a more recent graduate.
