Ideal two room setup

    Hi,
I am starting a refresh of my home cinema & music system a lot of which is very out of date. I'm aiming for a two room system - tv & sound in one room, sound only in the next room. Do you have any receivers that have more than two speakers in the second zone (4plus speakers in each room) or what would you normally suggest for this? All speakers will be wired. Sources would be chromecast, PS3, TV, streaming music etc Budget would be in the region of 1000 for receiver, two wall speakers and two ceiling speakers. Definitely open to direction on the appropriate hardware for this as my existing set up is years old.

    Thanks

That's a difficult one - as far as I know within the budget most receivers will only output stereo to the second zone - some AV receivers have pre-amp outs for the second room and of course you can power as many speakers as you like using a separate amp connected fir the second zone.

In terms of using a decent AV Amp with a second zone out, the Pioneer VSX924 is a great deal at just £299.95 / €389.99 ( the euro price includes delivery)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200655-vsx924.aspx?swapstore=1

this will give you a second powered zone and it also features 2 HDMI outputs ( although only the audio is multi source - the both HDMI outs carry the same output)

If you wanted to add 2 good in-wall speakers then I'd recommend the Monitor Audio WT165 in wall speakers:
    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/trimless-100/wt165

    - these retail at £119.95 each / €149.99 each

Then- add the matching CT165 new trimless in-ceiling speakers:
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-11974-ct165.aspx

At €129.99 each and your total comes to €949.95 - including delivery we would do the complete package at just €899.99 - this is really a great price as the sterling price on the total bundle is actually £739.90 excluding delivery!

Apologies for the delay getting back to you and drop us a line if we can assist in any way,

Thanks for the great suggestions John, much appreciated, but I should have said bracket mounted wall speakers rather than in-wall. Do you have anything bracket mounted you'd suggest (and the brackets too!)

    Thanks,

Ok if you are looking for a decent full range speaker which is wall mountable at a reasonable price, I'd recommend the Monitor Audio BX1 which you can wall mount really neatly with the MASM brackets - here's a link to the MA exploded diagram for the MASM Brackets:
    http://ca2.monitoraudiocdn.com/downloads/other-documentation/ma-speaker-mount.pdf?mtime=20140826143911

The BX1 is available in Black, walnut or natural Oak - they retail at £179.95 but they are amazing value in euro in the sale ( only for the next few days) at just €199.99 including shipping:
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-10812-bronze-bx1-black.aspx

    The brackets are available here:
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12012-masm.aspx

If you went for the BX1 with the brackets that would bring the overall system price down to just €849.99 - leaving you with some scope for decent speaker cable & interconnects :D .

If you are looking for a smaller satellite type speaker, just drop me a line and I'll look at the options - do you a other speakers for the main room as all of these options are just for pairs of speakers? - if you like I can quote you for a 5.1 sat/sub system for your main room??

    Keep me posted

Thanks for all the suggestions John,

Two months later and I’ve made little progress.  We have a TV room that opens onto our kitchen/diner and wanted to have a centralised audio system.  If we go for a receiver like the Pioneer we are limited to 5.1 in one room (tv room) and only two speakers in the second room.  Is there a better way to do this?  It’s an open plan area but the tv room is around a corner.  Should we just look at Sonos/HEOS?  Though price will be a limiting factor.  We have both rooms wired for 5 speakers (part of a renovation) though nothing to connect them to yet. Budget is a concern and as it’s open plan we don’t want to have two independent receivers only metres apart.  Any and all suggestions are welcome?  Need to make a decision in the coming week.

    Hi John,

For a budget of approx €1000-1200 what do you recommend for
    Option 1
    AV receiver
    5.1 speaker system (room 1)
    2 ceiling speakers (room 2)
And possibly option 2 (budget approx 2100)
As above but plus a 48-50" tv and suitable wall mounting bracket

    including delivery to co. Meath

    Thanks in advance

    Hi 2Tractors.

For the Av receiver and 5.1 I would recommend the following pack:
    Yamaha RXV677
    Monitor Audio Mass 5.1 pack
Priced as a bundle deal at £799.95 / 1111.00 Euro (Inc Delivery)
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers/home-cinema-separates-bundle-deals/pah011827

Ceiling speakers CT165 priced at 129.99 Euro (EACH) I could offer at 85.00 Euro each.
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-11974-ct165.aspx

Total 1280 Euro and this would be a cracking setup. (That's over 800 Euro off at retail)

On the screen you could look at the Panasonic 50AS650 priced at 879.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200553-viera-tx50as650b.aspx

Or Samsung UE48H6400 priced at £549.00 / 762.50 Euro (Inc Delivery)
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-200298-ue48h6400.aspx

Bracket to hold either flat to the wall would be the Sanus VML5 priced at 39.98 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200142-vml5.aspx?swapstore=1

Let me know what you think.

    Any questions please ask.

    Thanks Kenny,

Is the Yamaha much better than the Pioneer 924 which had previously been suggested. I use Bluetooth currently too much but is it a must have?

And on the screens, what's the verdict on the Panasonic over the Samsung?

    Thanks

    Hi 2Tractors.

I my opinion the RXV677 is much better over the Pioneer. 677 was 5 star reviewed in What HiFi. I use the older version 673 myself.

Blue tooth was not important to myself and can be added if its now built in.
You could go for something like the BTA10 priced at 69.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12026-bta10-bluetooth.aspx

Again in my opinion I prefer the Panasonic screen over the Samsung. Samsung have the best smart lay out and features but on picture I feel the Pana wins it.

Everyone is different and what suits me may not suit everyone.

    Thanks Kenny,

Last question! other than the refresh rate is there any reason to prefer the Panasonic over the Sony KDL50W829 for the same sort of money?

    Thanks

I will have to agree with Kenny on this one the Panny would be my choice too (that's coming from a Sony owner).  I think the Panasonic just has the edge in regards to picture quality and smart features.  Also in my opinion cosmetically I believe the Panasonic is the nicer looking set
