Relatively new Epson Officejet pro 8600 Plus - Print quality issue

    Hi all,

I purchased an Epson Officejet pro 8600 Plus about 6-8 months ago - http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-officejet-pro-8600-plus-e-all-in-one

I was initially very impressed by the quality of it's printing, it's speed and overall it worked very well.

After the initial ink cartridges got low I checked out the cost of new HP cartridges Vs non HP cartridges and the cost difference was significant so I purchased the non HP ones from a well established online Irish business specialising in inkjet cartridges. All was fine for a long time but recently I noticed that colour prints were not so good and then the quality deteriorated even more. I went through the process of re-aligning the print heads and cleaning the print heads several times but still the quality of colour print, particularly magenta was very poor so I went ahead and replaced all four ink cartridges with new (non HP) ones but the problem is still the same, see below. Is this my own fault? Have the non HP cartridges somehow damaged the print heads or could this just be that the non HP ink cartridges are crap and if I invest in proper HP cartridges the quality will be restored? I'm happy to invest in the HP cartridges if that's what will get the quality back to normal but I don't want to throw away a set of non HP cartridges, buy a set of HP cartridges and find out after all that that the printer is fcuked.

I'm also guessing that as I have used non HP cartridges any warranty claim I might try and make will be rejected?

I'm just looking for a bit of advice or some pointers as to what to do from someone who may have had a similar experience or knows a bit about inkjet printers.

    Cheers.
