How Do You Tell When A Clutch Needs To Be Changed Or Adjusted?

The biting point on my Dads tractor is getting very high, but it only has about 3500 hours on it. I'm guessing it just needs to be adjusted but how can you tell the difference?

If its getting high it may just be adjusting needed. When the clutch goes the tractor won't move or will "slip" as in it will feel as the tractor is hopping out of gear when it's still in gear

It is a hydraulic clutch as in master cylinder and slave cylinder using fluid or is it a rod,
I suspect hydraulic clutch. Reason I ask is they are self adjusting .
if your biting point is getting high it might be wear or an issue with the master cylinder or the like.
I wouldn't be saying 3500hours is not enough for a clutch to wear out. The uncles had a 178 with a loader feeding cattle in the winter which got a clutch at least once a year
if in doubt go to a mechanic

Not sure what type of clutch but I think it's rod. No loader on it,16 years old with 3500 hours. I think my Dad just rests his foot on the pedal a bit too long when using it
