Stamp One Visa

I'm in desperate need of some sort of help. If anyone can point me out a solid direction please do so. My girlfriend and I have been together for four years. I'm a US citizen and she is an Irish citizen. We applied for a de facto visa whilst I was on work holiday authorization but we were denied as the longest we have stayed continually together is only one year (we were together for over two years in school [in the dorms] minus her xmas holiday and summer holiday, only 6 months the third year which was her staying on the J-1 and just visiting for a month and a half, and we were together for the past year in Dublin on my work holiday authorization).

I have just left Dublin were I stayed for one year on work holiday authorization which was a type of rare and strange student visa that you had to apply for within one year of your graduation date of any undergraduate + institution (similar to a J-1 just over the course of a year).

We were denied our application for me to remain in the state for the De Facto visa but the reply we got (which came in the mail with the return of our rather large application) oddly stated that I could renew my current visa. I asked the Irish Consulate in Chicago which is where I first registered for the work holiday visa and they told me "no way." I guess one of the major issues is when the letter was sent (right before xmas) my stamp 1 permission and work holiday permit were not expired, however, because we were not home to collect the mail it went back INIS and remained there until 2, January, which had already seen the expiration of everything on 31st December.

PLEASE HELP ANYONE!!! I just need a way to get back, I have a nice job and a nice girl waiting for me and I have no idea how to even apply/ renew if I can a visa that will allow me to stay. I have the money but I'm not the best a deciphering the strangely worded INIS website or their seemingly encrypted emails ( I think they're trying to help me and honestly can't legally tell me certain things for whatever reason, at least that's how it reads to me.) Thanks for reading.
