One of the greats of small screen genre screenwriting has died at the age of 83

Clements was part of a generation of smart lively genre scribblers which included Terry Nation (with whom Clements collaborated on a number of projects and then fell out badly with), Nigel Kneale, and at a more elevated level Alan Bleasdale and Dennis Potter.

An article celebrating his art from a last summer

Clements credits include The Avengers, The New Avengers which he created, the Professionals again his idea, CI5: The New Professionals (which we should quietly forget ever happened), feature films like And Soon the Darkness, his own entry as a director - the genre mixing Hammer thriller called Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter. He also was a writer for hire on shows like Danger Man, Bergerac, Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense, Remington Steele, Highlander: The Series and Bugs (remember that on BBC One?)

Just noticed today that True Entertainment are showing The Avengers on a daily basis at 8 pm (repeated 11 am).

They are in the middle of series 4 which is the first complete series that exists.

Is this the first Diana Rigg series? Mad to think that she is still acting 50 years later appearing in Game of Thrones!
