    Hey Folks,

Just a quick one. I've had my learner permit for more than six months now and have done the required lessons plus had a lot of practice courtesy of my partner- so I think the time has come to book the test.
Looking online and living in Balbriggan (north county Dublin) it looks like my nearest test centres are either in Navan or close enough to Dublin city centre. That seems a little nuts that you have to travel so far to be tested- is that accurate? Also the website seems to indicate that there is a waiting time of up to 3 months. Again, is that accurate?

Dublin only has 4 test centres - Tallaght, Rathgar, Finglas & Raheny. If you don't want to make the trip down the M1 to any of those, then yeah, going to either Navan or Dundalk would be your closest other options.

Re the wait times, each test centre has an estimate up of the average wait time per test centre. It is just an estimate, not an exact science, but yeah if they say the average wait is 12 weeks, that's what it is. If you ask to be put on the cancelation list, you may get an earlier date.

With the recently updated penalties with N and L plates a lot of people have booked tests recently - pushing the wait times up by a few weeks. So 12 weeks plus sounds accurate. If you're flexible with your schedule and can do a short notice test, feel free to call the RSA and see what they have available.
