Chess in your dreams ?!

I dream most nights while sleep and generally have a vivid recollection in the morning but only had one dream where chess was involved so far.here it goes .....

I was playing chess in a large hall where lots of players are playing chess and was staring at the board when my opponent says " That's checkmate mister " I look up and my opponent is a girl who doesn't look more than 10 years old , I get up and walk over to a wall where list of players is and without seeing my name ,realise that I have come dead last in the tournament , embarrassed I want to get out of the hall before others find out , I see a door ,go over and try to open it and won't open and see another door and this one won't open either , while struggling with the door I woke up "

It would be interesting if there are any similarities between chess dreams ( doubt many would share it though )

I have lots of chess dreams, generally when I've been playing a lot, obviously. I only remember one worth mentioning from when I first started playing a lot where I discovered a new variant of chess with a board that was infinite and had squares rising upwards and in many shining colours, typically shades of gold and bronze. There were dozens of different types of pieces and I remember being awestruck by the whole thing. Considering dreams are often symbolic, I took this all to representative of the almost infinite complexity of chess and how cool it is!

As for your dream - that is my reality!

@ valmont , thanks for sharing , I don't read too much into dreams , I think of it more like a short film I went into , I have asked four regular chess players if they had any chess dreams in sleep and all confirmed they had , only two would describe their dreams .

I had a dream during the week that I turned up at a tournament to play, in a place I'd never been before, and as they knew I was coming they wanted me to be the arbiter, which I accepted! I think in the dream I was allowed to play as well though, but I didn't get to the first round as I woke up before that.

Funnily enough, in real life I was supposed to be playing in a weekender this weekend, somewhere I'd never been before, but with the bad weather, I couldn't go, and I ended up being arbiter in a local schools competition yesterday.

I wouldn't say the dream was a huge coincidence, and tend not to read too much into dreams, for me it's more a sign of stuff that's on my mind than anything else.

    .

Lucena, I will interpret your dream for you ! . Your dream suggests to me that not so long ago you were playing against an arbiter! and he/she had resounding features or a disability that etched on your mind ?!

Lucena , looking at your name I get an image of someone who likes to open 1. e4 as white and if playing against 1.d4 will go for 1...nf6 followed by 2...g6 .

    Am I correct ?

Yes ,I am confident , playing against a disabled arbiter is what gave Lucena that dream , goes over his posts after reading mine and finds he has made no mention of it  , surprised decides not to respond when I got it right , just like cdeb ,then updates his diary, but I tell you if I get things wrong, people are quick to respond and refute me .

P.S ...I think I need to take things easy on posting here and also correctly predicting things or people will start freaking out.

    Hi Sinbad68.

Sorry to disappoint you, your prediction/premonition was incorrect. I actually had black, and not white, against the blind arbiter. Other than that, everything you said was correct.

I have dreamed myself playing chess with my dad. But sadly, we won't be able to play in person again. I miss playing with him.
