Bought a similar car recently. Very strong money on that one considering it's a manual and doesn't seem to have much in the way of extras being an Irish car. Mine is an original UK car and it came with upgrade 18" alloy wheels, sat nav, advanced adaptive xenon headlights, heated rear seats and paddle shift gearbox.

My advice though is test drive an auto version too before deciding. The vast majority of 5 Series bought are autos and for a very good reason. The auto is way nicer than the manual and more suited to the diesel engine. It's also a tiptronic which means you can still shift gears manually if you like.

    totally agree with bazz .

serious money for that and its a manual (90% sold are auto for a good reason )

far easier to sell as well.

After alot of delibaration on Audis v BMWs I bought a 2012 BMW 520D M Sport. UK import from an Irish garage already VRT paid for 31k. It has all extras too including upgraded alloys. Its a fantastic car with great fuel consumption.

One thing to note that the 520d can suffer from timing chain issues, however the price of replacing the chain is coming down to around €1500 these days but just make sure to get a good warranty. Buying from a BMW dealer is a bit more expensive but the car does come with a 2 year warranty.

I would agree that the auto box suits the car better than the manual. My 520d is a manual and although I love driving it I drove an auto lately and couldn't believe the difference. I would also recommend the lights package or at the least try and get the xenons. Take your time and shop around don't go for the first deal you are offered. I get 54 mpg from mine they are a great car you won't regret it. Best of luck.
