I have a 2002 nissan micra which has recently failed nct. The emissions low idle are CO 2.44 vol HC 333ppm. The high idle is CO 0.45 vol, Lambda 0.99. I brought it to a mechanic who changed the air mass sensor but made no difference. He says I would be throwing money away getting it fixed and even a new cat might not help. Any ideas would be great

High CO can mean poor air supply. high HC means incomplete burn of fuel.

I'd give it a decent service to include a new air filter and new spark plugs.
