Girl Suicide Bomber Aged 10, Kills 19

A girl suicide bomber, thought to be just 10 years old, blew herself up in a crowded market in northern Nigeria, killing at least 19 people.

The market in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, was packed with shoppers and traders when the attack happened at around 12.40pm local time on Saturday.

Civilian vigilante Ashiru Mustapha said the blast happened as the girl was being searched at the entrance to the market.

"The girl was about 10 years old and I doubt if she actually knew what was strapped to her body," he told the AFP news agency.

Disgusting. But not surprising considering what Boko Haram/ISIS and the rest of these terrorist groups have been doing over the past few months.

Yet another massacre in the name of this peaceful religion.

She wasn't a suicide bomber, she was murdered along with those others.
During the Yugoslav civil War from a few decades ago, children were used to approach posts and lob in grenades. Man is ever inventive in finding new ways of killing each other.

I don't know what it will take for the world to sit up and take notice of what's happening in Nigeria at the hands of these animals. Our own political establishment are quick to request boycotts and produce petitions against other countries but not a peep from them over this.

Why is it that when you believe in the fundamentals of any religion it drives you to be a scummy person in some way? A guy i know converted to being a fundamentalist Christian a while back and he went from being a peaceful, sound guy to a fanatical worshipper who despises all women cos the Bible says they deserve it.

Most of the population see muslims and arab-looking-people as sort of interchangeable terms, so while you technically can't be racist towards muslims they are being racist to arabs, who most of the time happen to be muslim

I actually might cry after reading this. Absolutely horrific. The poor girl hadn't a clue and was just used as a tool in an attack. Discusting isn't the word.

For it to happen to anyone is horrible but a 10 year old? So young, she had her whole life ahead of her

I would however take issue with your assertion about women being treated like "animals". What has misogyny got to do with Islam? If you are attempting to suggest that some provincial yokels in some far flung part of the world about which you are pitifully ignorant is indicative of the beliefs of 25% of the world's population then you are, quite frankly, a foolish and unthinking man.

As long as they stay marauding around Myanmar I don't give a toss.

At least they don't ram aircraft into buildings in New York, blow up nightclubs in Bali, trains in Madrid and tubes & buses in London.

Nor have I ever heard of Buddhist monks beheading journalists, shooting cartoonists or knocking down an off duty soldier in South London before hacking his body to pieces on the street in broad daylight while ordering distraught onlookers to record the evil act on their phones.

I have yet to hear of any Christian, Jewish, or even Buddhist spokespeople defend the above atrocities or claim they were carried out in their name.

We all know that the vast majority of Muslims are just as horrified by such attacks as everyone else. That has been said time and time again and we get the message. But quit pointing the finger and throwing the word 'racist' into the mix when people point out the truth and say it as it is. These acts are carried out by Muslims worldwide in the name of Islam and there is nothing bigoted in saying that.

Im starting to think that the world needs empires and that not every country should have the right to independence.

Africa cant defend itself and if Nigeria was part of France,its unlikely such things would be happening and least not on such a scale.

Africa is just a nation of violence, jihad and government coups, one after another.

Just watching CNN and one reporter is talking about when Libya fell, huge amounts of weapons and large items such as miltary helicopters were seized by islamic jihadist and flowed on the back of trucks to Niger in Nigeria.

That is why is a mistake to get involved in Libya without getting involved enough to boots on the ground.

After the Iraq war, probably the biggest mistake westerns forces made was getting involved in Libya.

I'd support France, UK or USA taken over Iraq and dividing it up amongst themselves. Look what has happened after they left.

Would surely have been better for all if they never left at all.

Right, might take some flak for this. And could be wrong. But I think the kid detonated the explosives. I doubt anything like a radio operated explosive device was used, I doubt Boko Haram have that level of sophistication.

THAT SAID the kid was probably under threats or some kind of pressure, lied to or just brainwashed into carrying out orders.

That's like calling the Taxi drivers during the troubles that were forced at gun point to drive their cars with bombs in them into checkpoints suicide bombers. It makes for a clickbait headline but it's clearly absolute ****e. Even if she did it knowingly she was still 10 and completely unable to make a decision like that in any proper manner. The poor girl was one of 20 people murdered.
