'Healthiest' bread available in Ireland?

    Howya

I am not looking to get into a debate if bread is good for you or not. I am just looking for a healthy store bought bread here in Dublin.

I eat a lot of bagels and breads, and want to move away from the usual pat the baker rubbish. I heard Ezikel bread is great, but can't seem to be found in Ireland. I see Lidl do a Pumpkin seeded bread, any thoughts?

Any one recommend a healthy alternative bread widely available?

P.s not found of baking my own bread

    Thanks

To a degree, it depends how you define 'healthy' yourself. Some define it by calorie content but the occasions I buy bread, I tend to look at fibre and salt content.

Breads with seeds tend to be slightly more calorific but they have good fibre content and good fats.

Possibly but the best bet would be to soak it in egg and fry it with cheese on top.

    All the noms.

The only time I've had bread in the last...not sure but it's a long time....its been when there has been the perfect storm of eggs, cheese, bread and spare time.

    Omanomanom.

Lately my mam has been making bread using only oats, buttermilk and baking soda, makes a spongy bread but it is amazing when toasted. Anytime I'm visiting I eat a loaf or 4

It's a 500 ml tub of low fat natural yoghurt, I use 2 eggs instead of oil. Mix it altogether and pour into a loaf tin, cook for40mins at 190°

I eat a loaf of brennans white bread a day

breakfast toasts, 11am toasts, lunch toasts etc

the advert says it is high in protein so Im definitely getting my daily needs.

drinking protein milk and brennans bread and now have no need for any meat or whey powders :)

This is the best protein "bread" I have made.

    http://www.bruisesandcalluses.com/2014/07/protein-oat-bars.html

Its just oats / apples and whey...

When you toast it and put peanut butter on it its unreal

In Ireland probably a good multi seed bread that's made with no nasty additives or 'flour enhancers'. Pick one from a local bakery.

Pity you won't try baking your own-best solution possible, then you know exactly what goes into it. It's not as difficult or time consuming as you may think. Get a bread maker and you cut the time even more.

Forget about Ezekiel bread, I looked for it as I know it's the healthiest bread of them all but couldn't find it anywhere. I then went to find the ingredients to bake some authentic Ezekiel myself-also impossible as I couldn't find wheat berries to sprout them and mill into flour nor could I find any sprouted flour itself. But maybe you might have better luck if you wanted to go down that road.

I think unless you can get the berries from a grain farmer here it's impossible. Which is ridiculous really

This bread (or similiar) is the bomb!

    No added yeast or sugar.
Fills you up, keeps your bowels moving and is just so good for you!
Relatively cheap too, I usually only have one slice (instead of two slices normally of a generic sliced pan!)
