Try get her to a vet first thing tomorrow. Bairbre O'Malley in Bray specialises in birds, I'd get her to her.

i would bring her back to the pet shop- if you have only had her for a week they are at fault for selling you a sick bird

    Vet vet vet right now!

Parrots will hide illness to prevent them being picked off in the wild by predators so if a parrot acts sick then it is very very sick

just watched your vid and I would get that parrot to a vet ASAP. If you are anywhere near wicklow go to Bairbre o malley

if you google her you'll get the practice number

hi guys sorry been offline sadly she did die, sortly after i posted this up she died with in 15 mins it started of with me thinking she hurt her leg so i let her rest , this effected me a lot as i just got her. lucky for me the pet shop i bought it helped me out and gave me a refund which he could of made 1001 excuses so i would highly recommend this guy. People i do what to ask what happened to her why did she die on me what was the reason i am in bits goggling it. I did try my best to try get help but this country is messed up with vets clsoing when u need them the most ok ok i know there is places but a vet that deals with greys are not open at 5 am on a sunday.
I would like to ask people to try help me make sense of this please.
    what the hell happened

I am sorry your bird died. Not sure why you'd recommend someone who sells sick animals to inexperienced owners.

The only way you will get the answers you seek is a post-mortem and even then you might not. It's too late now in any case.

In future, before taking responsibility for the life of an animal make sure you have access to a suitable vet and an emergency service if needed. You come across as being young so this is a sad but valuable lesson in preparation, especially if you are going to own pets which are not your normal run of the mill cat or dog.

I am sure UCD was open at 5am, Argyle and Bainbridge treat exotics and have an emergency service and I'm sure Bairbre O Malley probably has one too.

Bulin, in fairness, Toulouse is right. There is nothing screwed up about out-of-hours vet cover in Ireland. If you're going to own an exotic pet, you've got to have already sourced a good vet that specialises in them, and it is not difficult to get an out-of-hours vet in Ireland... They are legally required to provide such cover.
You were given good advice on another thread you started to contact a named reputable breeder, yet it seems within a very short time of accepting that advice, you went out to a pet shop and bought a bird. That, to me, was a bad decision. It is pretty widely accepted that pet shops are often dodgy (at best) to buy animals that require a fair amount of specialised knowledge to own.... Why you went this route instead of taking the advice of experienced bird owners is anyone's guess, but it seems you've now learned one part of what's actually messed up in this country... Buying larger birds from pet shops (unless the shop owner has really specialised knowledge) is fraught with danger. A pet shop is no environment in which these lovely birds should be kept in any case.
Like Toulouse, I don't know why you'd recommend someone who sold you an unhealthy pet... Of course he refunded you... He hadn't a leg to stand on and he wanted to keep you quiet.
You've learned a harsh lesson OP, and I feel desperately sorry for your bird, but don't go lashing out at those who are not to blame.

I know 3 people aswell as myself that something like this happened. I was lucky and managed to get an oncall vet in charlemont street to look after him. Turns out that he had an infection in his lungs. But he managed to pull through. 3 other guys bought their birds from all different breeders and the same thing happened. 2 died and 1 survived.

What were the symptoms before she died ?

I'm not going to kick you while your down OP, I am so sorry to hear about your bird. What a traumatic experience for you. I understand where youre coming from about it being difficult to find an out of hours vet. When my labrador fell sick with what I thought was a broken leg, it took me two hours to get through to an out of hours vet (using the emergency number) and that was only 7:30pm! I rang 3 vets in total, When One finally picked up the phone he was very reluctant to see my dog, I was distraught at this stage as my dog had become paralysed on one side. After about 20 minutes of pleading I got him to see my dog. Sadly my dog passed away from a tumour.

I also have a chinchilla (considered an exotic) who was quite ill last summer and I took him to my regular vet(not the one I brought the lab to) She was able to treat him over two appointments and he was fine. Bairbra o malley gave my vet information over the phone so your regular vet should have been able to treat your bird until you could get to a specialist. I'd look at it as a hard lesson learned Bulin, if you were ever to get another african grey go to a specialist breeder. Also make sure you scrub out the deceased parrots cage to avoid an infection passing onto your other pets or any potential new bird.

Really sorry again Bulin, it's a horrible experience.

5 am in the morning i forgot to mention or did i mention the fact that i was watching over it thinking it was a sprint leg. the fact is i did google vets but she died. i did ring around and they even confirmed she was dead and was to late. i know people do not understand but the amount i done or able to do was done

thanks for teh kind words. it was very hard to find a vet at very early hours i did ring the breeder he told me it was a sprint leg. sortly after my post on this she died 15 mins, with in the 15 mins ringing round vets etc. people seem to forget that is a nature to try are best and to think that at 5 am is an easy time to get a vet who ever thinks this is wrong. Not only is it in possible to get through to a vet at that hour, With the whole world asleep but me to arrange transport etc etc. I reallly feel that i tried my best. but people please stop for a second and do not try make me feel bad, A pet is a like family to me. If there is any breeders out there who would glady take a call at 5 am to help me out please pm your number. so i can feel a lil safer in the futre knowing someone out there at 5 am will answer my call for a dying friend

Thinking you know is completely different to actually knowing and understanding how to treat the bird. Your bird died but the guy in the shop told you, it was a sprained leg. If he had said that, I would have brought him to a visit to verify this.

I thought you get your bird from a shop, no way in hell would they know how to treat a bird. Saying the guy gave you refund and that he was great and highly recommend him is stupid.

The only way is to buy from a reputable breeder where they have the experience and understanding to rear healthy content bird. Lesson learned.

    Okay Bulin,
I'm afraid there is nothing anyone here can do for you, because nobody, not even a vet, can diagnose this on an internet forum.
The only person who could have helped you before, and who can help you now to find answers, is a vet. If you can't give them the remains to carry out a post mortem, then I'd suggest that you call one of the exotics specialists (Bairbre O'Malley, John Bainbridge) to ask what they think might explain what has happened.
    All the best,
    DBB
