Ive to install a new shower tray for my aunt as the old one is cracked and leaking. Its been in the house about 40 years and time for a new one. Ive also to install some pvc panels around the shower.

What i want to know what type of shower tray is best to use up stairs and how is it i lay it. Ive fixed some drainage before in baths and sinks so know how to fix the drain in shower tray but its the installing the tray that im not to clued up on

If i installl a plastic type tray, can i bed it into some sand and cement after covering the timber in some pva. Is it the same for the ceramic type trays or will i get away without needing the sand cement.

There is no real need for sand and cement on an upstairs floor unless the floor is seriously uneven and the cement is needed for levelling
Best tray to get has tiling up stands on it
They are plastic pieces that are factory fitted to allow the tiles to be fitted to them which creates the seal

    Apologies for jumping on thread...

I plan to replace bath with shower and am thinking of using solid wall sections instead of tiles. It is an idea so as to reuse exisiting tiles to fill gaps where bath was. Lovely tiles, pity to chuck them.

Any opinion on these preformed wall sections? I wont be doing work myself :)

If you don't get one with upstands, classi-seal is a great job

A no probs. As for changing bath with shower, will you not be left with a large gap where bath was and can you get exact tiles again, if not it would look a mess with other tiles filled in.

yes,the shower tray should be leveled, sand and cement,or what i would use would be flexible floor adhesive, shower tray with upstands,or shower tray with classic seal or shower tray with sealux seal and sealux silicone.
