Met a girl online a couple of weeks ago. After a few weeks chatting/texting we finally agreed to meet up and went on date yesterday evening. Date went well, found we got on very well, no awkward silences and both enjoyed each others company. A few hours after the date i texted her and told her that i really enjoyed the evening and that i would really like to do something again. She texted back and just said maybe next week. That was yesterday evening and havent heard a word from her since. What are my chances of securing a 2nd date?

I think you need to take a breath and let things develop from here - right now there's no reason to believe that she won't be interested in a second date next week. She's responded to you, so right now you need to giver her a bit of breathing space, it's only been one day and you are worrying, and the last thing you want to do is be that overbearing guy form minute one. Stick to the plan - drop her a message sometime next week and see if she's interested in doing something together, and take it from there.

The first thing to bear in mind here is that this isn't something you have any control over. You've met her, you got on well and hopefully she's interested enough to go out with you on a second date. If not, then unfortunately you'll have to accept that.

Whatever you do, don't come across as too needy or desperate. That sort of behaviour is guaranteed to send women running to the hills. They can sense the desperation and it is not an attractive trait. By all means stay in touch by text but don't overdo it or you'll scare her off.

I'd say the chances are slim to none OP. Reserve the texting situation OP, if she sent you that message after what you thought was a great date would you write back saying "maybe next week"? I highly doubt it. No harm in holding off and texting her next week but I wouldn't be expecting a response.

Also - the fact she even said "Maybe next week" I'd probably not actually want to see her again. Sounds like a head-wrecker.

OP I dont see what your concern is, leave it a day or 2 and text her a suggested day/time for a 2nd date, if she says she cant make it suggest another time/day, if she says she cant make that then shes sending your message I dont see any reason tho atm from the information you have given us as to why she wouldnt want a 2nd date.

I think you are over thinking things OP. You have only just met this girl. You don't know her and she doesn't know you. It takes a while to get to know somebody. Just takes things easy from the beginning and I would say don't be in daily contact as one other poster said it will come across as being a bit desperate and clingy. Leave it for a few days and contact her or she might contact you. If it doesn't happened just learn from this experience. Best will come to he who waits. Best of luck.

OP here again. Didnt hear anything from her since but was thinking of maybe sending her a text tomorrow and maybe suggest meeting up an evening next week or would this be a bit early. Sorry but im a bit inexperienced in the whole dating game so any advice would be appreciated.

Chances are she's at home doing exactly what you're doing and overthinking. She's probably thinking, OK I've already suggested we go out again next week so I can't text him again and say it again because I'll look desperate.

Text her, suggest something and see what happens.

No, I wouldn't call it a bit early at all. What harm can it do? If she's interested in seeing you again, she'll be delighted to get that text. If she ignores it or fobs you off, then I'd delete her number and move on.

Alas, confused15, Chucky The Tree's response is spot on, that's the way it works, my good man, but there's plenty more out there who'll reply to your text quickly and enthusiastically because they'll be as excited as you.

Looking desperate and afraid of contacting and all that...that's nothing. You must show how you feel, and if they feel the same, they will not be put off. If they don't feel the same, there was nothing you could do anyway. Never worry about appearances or saving face in the game of love.

Never calculate, never disguise! It's not a game of chess!
