    Can anyone help.

I was on illness benefit since I left work in 2012 and have been cut off/deemed fit for work. I went into SW office and Im not entitled to JB as I didnt work in 2013 and I could be entitled to JSA. Have all the forms to fill in and have an appointment at the end of the month.

I can see a list of savings you are allowed to have but I cant find the cut off point for a spouse's income. Does anyone know where I would find this or what it is.

Also is your mortgage payment taken into account.

Mortgage payments are not taken into account. Assuming there is only you and your spouse and they work 3 days or more then the cut off for spouses income is €581 pw. Its not nett income its gross less prsi, unions dues and any pension payments.

We have 2 children aged 17 & 20 and both in full time 3rd level education one with a part time job.
I think my husbands wages is over by about €15.

    Thats the end of that.

    Thanks for the reply.

Adding in the fact that you have two children and one over 18 still in full time education then the cut off point for spouses earnings would be €680

Hopefully that will swing it. thanks again.

No problem. Make sure you have a letter from the college stating that the 20 year old is in full time education.

I just worked out (I think) that if I had applied for JSB the last week in Dec I would have enough PRSI contributions to be entitled to it, but the didnt send the letter out out me til 7th Jan which works off 2013 contributions and I didnt have any for that year.

I wonder was it a ploy on their part.

I thought also that you could move from illness to JSB because of you credited contributions.

You can move from jsb to illness and back to jsb as the jsb would have linked to the first jsb through illness. Were you on jsb prior to going on illness? When was your last illness payment? If it was in December and you were deemed fit for work by the Dept then ask for your claim to be backdated citing that you didnt receive the letter until 7th January. You will not receive a payment for any of your children or spouse on jsb as your spouses earnings are too high.

My last payment was 30th Dec, I didnt get a payment this week, was due the 6th. I rang to inquire and they said they didnt receive my cert, I had posted it in Dec when it was due, I ordered a duplicate one and this months one and posted them and the letter arrived the following day.
I had a medical in November and the letter was a follow up to this.

I was on illness benefit in March 2010 and started on a CE scheme and was getting a double payment until April 2013 when I went back onto illness only.

    I've appealed the decision.

I'll see what comes out of the meeting regarding JSA at the end of the month.

Edit: letter said I was paid up until 12th January.

Got a letter yesterday saying I didn't qualify for JA as my weekly means are above the family circumstances of €312.00.
I was told at the interview the over 18 in fulltime education allowance doesn't apply until I was claiming for over 54 weeks .

    Thanks for the replies.

I just had a quick look there on welfare.ie and it says you have to be in payment of JA for 156 days to get payment for the over 18 year old in college. I thought that rule only applied to JB.

She must have said 156 days, not 54 week, it was so much to take in for me. I'll see how I get on with the illness appeal when that comes up.
