Dell Dimension 2400- Can it be upgraded to a Gaming PC??

I have a 10/11 year old Dell Dimension 2400, Windows Xp PC.
It has Intel, Pentium 4 CPU, 2.66ghz, 512 mb Ram

Is this any way suitable to use as a build for a Gaming PC, or even as a decent Home PC for Internet?

I have no experience in building PC's, but would happily give it a go with this.

    Many Thanks in Advance.

Dell used to use proprietary parts, so upgrading old machines like yours is nigh on impossible. You might find a use for it as is, but honestly, I'd start again from scratch if it were mine.

For modern gaming not a hope in hell. Would be useful for player older games of say around 2000 era and earlier.

You'd pick up a machine twice as fast for about €60 second hand, for perfect home use. An old Dell or Compaq Core 2 machine with 2Gb ram.

That machine is actually worth nothing, to be honest, maybe €20.

Great, any recommendations or any links for sourcing one like that?
    Thanks
