    Prediction

    All Home Wins

It's Alexandra Palace, we are not Darts here :p

I've Shaun Murphy backed for the whole tournament so expect to see Selby throttle him in the first round. Expect Higgins to get past Allen, apart from that all home wins.

Higgins hasn't being playing well for a while now. I hope to see he doing well, but the odds aren't in his favor. Todays opening match looks promising.

I find Mark Allen usually performs quite poorly in the Masters (won 4 of his 6 opening rounds and 1 of his 4 second rounds). Form says Allen should find it easy enough against Higgins and it really is nothing more than a gut feeling.

Maybe it is just me, but Higgins has gone very old looking. I don't think he has played well since the whole betting scale.

First frame was well played by selby. Nice to see a century at the start of a tournament.

Anyone have link to watch? Cant get it on bbc website

Feck the BBC leaving Ally Pally for people sliding down some feckin mountain somewhere.

Can't switch as easily from red button to the match.

23 - 12 to Murphy here. Both players missing sitters. Murphy at the table.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 423 ✭✭The Bould Rabbit

M extending lead now. 3 reds left but two of them tight to cushion.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 423 ✭✭The Bould Rabbit

Disturbs them nicely to set himself up for the pot. Takes the next following black. Selby needs snookers.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 423 ✭✭The Bould Rabbit

Selye returns to the table with one red ramaining and 51 behind.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 423 ✭✭The Bould Rabbit

Only the green on its spot makin it difficult for selby to hide the cueball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭cruais

Much left for selby to take it?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 423 ✭✭The Bould Rabbit

Murphy rubs it in by snookering Selby. Selby does enough to see it and leave it safe.

Selby needs 4 snookers. He's not giving up without a scrap. He leaves a simple red on.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 423 ✭✭The Bould Rabbit

Murphy pots it and plays around with the colours. Job done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭cruais

Damn it. Was hoping selby could do it

    well done Shaun Murphy.
Was convinced Selby would win that but obviously the new baby is taking it's toll on poor mark !!

Murphy having a terrific season, already 3 centuries this season.
A record for a calendar year

He certainly seems to be a player benefiting from all the tournament play all over the world. Think he has won 4 times in 2014 is that right.

    Fantastic 147 from Marco Fu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,033 ✭✭✭Slippin Jimmy

Fu played absolutely brilliant tonight. He deserved to win the match. I was expecting Bingham to put up more of a fight especially after his last match against o Sullivan. He missed a few easy balls, poor form with the in off.

I thought it moved in 2012 although the agreement runs out this year and next year its location has not been confirmed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

I wasn't sure it could have been played in 2012 just usually recall it being in wembley

I am really surprised to see these two out. The only person I can see stopping Ronnie is Robertson. Going by tonight's match so far he is not on form. I'd like to see milkins getting through.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭syngindub

surely Robertson cant go as well !!

    Neil Robertson 3 (11) 4 Robert Milkins

This Match is getting a bit tasty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,033 ✭✭✭Slippin Jimmy

4:4 they're really battling it out. Milkins isn't crumbling under the pressure. It still could go either way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,033 ✭✭✭Slippin Jimmy

6:4 Robertson through to the next stage

Im looking forward to the Mark Allen V John Higgins match Wednesday afternoon. Mark has had a great season to date and will be the favourite to go through as the John Higgins these days you never know quite what your going to get with him. Unfortunately for John he has struggled badly with his form over the last 2 years and the signs of a decline are there to see as he has become extremely inconsistent. However his game is still there and hes capable of beating anyone on his day. His win over Matthew Stevens in the UK Championship was as well as Ive seen him play in a long time and he looked more like his old self but he cant sustain it and has dropped down the rankings as a result. Hes going to need to pull a rabbit of the hat soon or else he may end up having to qualify for the Crucible. Id love to see him do well in this tournament as he was rather unlucky not to beat Selby last year in the Quarter Finals. Its never nice seeing a great player so far off their best

Really looking forward to the o Sullivan Walden match. I'll be watching it on BBC as I prefer their commentators.

Have some pity for those of us in work  I don't know why Ronnie isn't on at 7, surely more people watch it then and he is the biggest draw. Carter Hawkins is not a match I particularly look forward too!

Usually they have the snooker on the TVs in the office where I work :-). It is a bit strange it's not on later. I'm sure more people would watch it if it was.

Was wondering was I hearing things. Never heard it before during a match. He had a nice break going up until that.

Ronnie just won there. Virgo was so animated for some reason. I missed it, what was so astounding the last frame, and the match in general, apart from Ronnie equaling the century tally of Hendry?

Ronnie had no chance of potting the yellow except for flukeing it and by god it was some shot!!

Ahem, cough..., eh... The venue (and that area of London) has been known as Ally Pally since before WWII. :P

    Just sayin. :)
