Sometimes I can go about 2 months without giving them a wash. Is this socially acceptable?

When they become either dirty or smelly.

Only after I don't wear any underwear with them or when I spill food or liquid on them that leaves a stain. That's the beauty of jeans.

When I've worn them two or three times, maximum. They might not look dirty, but I feel better about wearing them when I know they're clean.

I pulled a 3310 nokia out of an old pair of jeans that I hadn't worn in years. Still had 2 bars of battery left on it...

Yeah same here*, luckily I'm very clumsy so I end up washing them pretty regularly anyway.

*though I always wear underwear with jeans. It's important to me that people know this.

The CEO of Levis has not washed his year old pair of jeans ever - bad for the dye in the fabric!

The CEO of Levi's doesn't spend his days holing turf out of a soggy bink hole or lying on his back under a diesel engine.

Ideally you should go swimming in the ocean wearing your jeans, rub your jeans with dry sand and repeat several times. Rinse in the fresh (not salt) water and let them dry in the sun.

Only wear jeans on nights out so they don't get out much.

I'll wash them if they get stains or smell bad.

When they're able to walk away on their own.

I turn mine inside out so I can get an extra day out of them :)

Jeans can't be washed, it strips them of the natural oils they need from the crack of your arse that keep them protected from the elements.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,241 ✭✭✭✭Kovu

Depends how dirty they are. No point saying every two weeks if I put them on clean one morning and then fall on my arse in the slatted shed.

Big heavy on the washing machine.

Hint you can buy more than one pair.

I've never understood the idea of jeans as formal or going out wear.

When they're dirty or smell at all. Probably around once a fortnight on average.

Well in that case, I wash them once a week. I don't put them in the washing machine every second day and then go around in my underpants until they're dry. I wear them for two days... and I spend the next five days going around in my underpants until they're washed. You're right though - I should probably buy more than one pair.

Yes you should. You read as aggrieved. The thread asks how often do you wash your jeans and you said every second day. the cause for confusion is all you.

When ever ghosts emerge from the arse crack of the jeans. Although, I do find jeans with 6+ months of stains of skid marks, pi$$, jam, jizz, sweat, oil, coffee and mince pies seem to be a lot more flexable than jeans straight out of the wash and drier.

    Jeans are very 2002.

Sometimes three times a day. Certain, eh, "stains" can be difficult to eradicate.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Wear them once and wash.

For some reason, all my jeans are starting to wear/tear at the gooch :/ Wonder why. Need to replace a bunch of them.

I did this in 2010. They're still wet.

I would get at least two weeks out of a pair anyway (that's wearing them everyday to work and at the weekend/ going out etc) unless they got dirty from spilling something on them etc.

A pair of trousers or jeans I wasn't wearing everyday could last a month or months between washes.

The extreme not washing jeans comes from hipsters who want to get "authentic" fades on raw denim, so they can look like great depression era miners and farmers while they sip their lattes in their cubicle. AKA total arse. Apparently some of them keep them "clean" by sticking them in the freezer to kill the bacteria. From hard wearing work wear for hard working men to a uniform for tossers in a couple of generations. Mad eh?

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I dont wash jeans that often to be honest. Whenever they get smelly or dirty.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,809 ✭✭✭✭smash

I'd wear jeans a few times before washing them, unless something spilled on them. It's strange because I'd never wear any other item of clothes more than once. I have a few pairs of jeans that I've owned for years now though. Good quality jeans really do last.

The bigger question is: How many times did you fart while wearing them?

Mine get washed with the rest of my clothes. Wear them two days max, then they go in the basket till I have enough clothes to do a full load.

Jeans! Everyone's wearin' 'em. Jeans! They're the latest craze. Jeans! Whatcha wearin' there? Jeans! Wow they sure look swell!

    ;)

I wash them as often as I wash my other clothes.

I'm not really the sort of man who wears jeans to work or when socialising. I do have a nice pair of Diesel triple-stitched jeans that I might wear when going for a drive, or popping down to the shops. Would wash them after 3 or 4 wears.

On the subject of jeans: what is it with Irishmen and their love of boot cut jeans? A most unflattering cut, and few things more tatty than the bottom of the legs of the jeans all frayed and tattered.

It's actually a rarity for me to wear jeans. I have one red going out pair which are shockin hot but I wash them every wear because I don't like when they loosen.

I wear dresses pretty much all the time. They get washed after one wear. My other non hot jeans would be washed after maybe two wears, but there could be months between two wears!!!
