no log book no licence plate

    Can anybody help,I have bought a house and it came with an old car in the shed,it's a nice one but old,and I want to restore it,how do u get a log book for a car with no plates,don't know whose name it's in only know the make and model it's from the 50's, hope someone can shed light on this the woman in local office didn't want to know thought I was mad
