How do Irish rail weekly tickets work? Is it a 7 day ticket or a 5 day ticket?

I need one from Sunday to Sunday as work week on week off.

    Cheers

There are 7 day rolling tickets available yes in the Dublin area.

But other options may be cheaper such as LEAP.

    What's the journey?

Weekly is 94.50 which is valid from Sunday to Saturday
Monthly is 334 which is valid for unlimited travel in a month.

Monthly might work out cheaper if your working for example 3 weeks in a month.

I heard they scrapped that the 7 days is from day of purchase? Could be wrong

That's only within the Dublin Short Hop Zone.

Here is the information about Intercity weekly tickets (click on weekly):

As indicated they run from Sunday to Saturday.
