so i upgraded to horizon meaning ill be using the horizon box for my wifi instead of the old one upc supplied. i have a netgear wndr3700 connected to it as i got the odd bad signal and it has improved it. no speed increase or perfromance..barely worth buying to be honest.

my question is, will the horizon box alone be fine? just want to know as ill stick the netgear router up on adverts if people have better experiences with the horizon box over the older upc modems

The Wifi performance from the Horizon box I have is terrible. It's fine in the room its based but it trails off dramatically into the rooms beside it. I'm in an apartment so I would hate to see it in a two story house.

Oh god. Not good to hear. Newer upc technology I was just expecting improvements

Oh God no! Keep it. Horizon wifi is terrible!

I have the WNDR3700 hooked up to my Horizon box, wouldn't be able to cope without it. Plus UPC have the 5ghz channel disabled.

Funny I have found the Wifi to be fine in my two storey house... reaches everywhere. The connection can be flakey though... not enough for me to do anything about it (I'm lazy) but the connection seems to slip and then reconnect instantly sometimes. You wouldn't notice if you weren't running some latency sensitive programs like me perhaps. This might not be the router though I guess.

My main complaint about the router is that it as only 2 Ethernet ports. 2! So, if you want any sort of decent number of things connected to it (I have at least 4 that need to be) then you should consider keeping the external router for that purpose.

I'll test it out without the nether and see how it goes. If not then I'll hook it up. These price rises and they still supply us with seemingly **** hardware..pathetic huh

Wireless is a two way street you need a good client to go with a good router.

Got the Horizon box last week and have had no problem with the WiFi signal. It's actually sped my broadband speed up by 10mgs. Was getting 20 now getting 30. I also live in a two storey house.

Thats still very meh for wireless N. My netgear runs 110 and BKs new C7 does 200 on N nevermind AC.

Maybe it is but i'm just informing the original poster that the Horizon box is working fine for me when it comes to the WiFi signal.

Sorry for maybe annoying but i also have my PS4 hooked up via WiFi to the Horizon box and it works just fine. Maybe there's a problem elsewhere that's causing your troubles.

i cannot go wired as my ps4 is upstairs. its the exact same setup ive had with the epc3925...just im receiving 0.5mb download as opposed to 20mb. all other devices are fine

they are sending a technicolor modem out instead of an epc3925. ill see how it goes!
