Samsung S5 security issue

Hey folks, I'm wondering if you can help.

I have the S5 and set up a 4 digit pin to unlock (I know the pin)

I want to change that to the swipe method of unlocking, but when I go into lock screen, it says "secured with PIN" and doesn't give me the option to change it, but just to confirm. When I do, it comes up with the "select screen lock" options, but the "swipe" option is not accessible, and says "swipe is disabled by administrator, encription policy or credential storage" ditto the fingerprint

    Any help?

Do you have your work email setup on your phone (Exchange or Office 365)? If so, this often forces you to accept certain security elements such as having to have a PIN code or certain screen timeout set for security reasons. This is the kind of prompt accepted in the image below:

Excellent deduction! :) I do indeed have the work email on the phone.

Where do I go from here please?

Well I find that regardless of this being enabled, you can disable it and make your screen lock changes while you keep using your email account (I find it a bit strict to enforce the screen lock personally). It seems it "has" to be enabled when adding the account, just not for using it.

Lets disable the Admin and see if you can still sync / refresh your mail, if so then great - just make your lock screen changes as expected. Hopefully it doesn't prompt you to "removal associated email accounts" doing this.

Settings > Security > Device Administrators (from here, untick Email).

    Thanks again :)

It has prompted a warning however:

"Disabling email application's authority to administer your device will delete all email accounts that require it, along with their emails, contacts, calender events and other data"

This is a work phone so I can't do that :/

As I feared, I would suggest popping to IT to see if they can give you an alternate policy for your account so your can use the slide to unlock only - all depends on security / regulations for the office.

I had a similar situation with Lync setup.
It told me all of the above but basically I had no pin/swipe/fingerprint setup beforehand.
I just hit the back button at that time.
Lync works and I have no pin still (my choice)

I use the built in mail client for work and 2 personal emails with no pin issues.

Maybe if you uninstall the work email and remove the pin it might work for you that way.
