Steel Frame & rust

While cleaning my bike last night I noticed that rust is starting to appear on the frame (front & rear drop outs), eyelets and frame detailing.

Given that the bike is only just over 12 months old should I be going back to the LBS with it or is this the norm with steel frames?

Its a daily ride in all conditions but was cleaned weekly with muck off and then lubed as required.

Steel rusts. Any exposed parts of a non-stainless steel frame will rust, especially if ridden in wet conditions, which means all year round here.

However, in 99,9%* of cases it only superficial rust and should not lead to any structural weakening of the frame.

Genesis say that should this happen, they are replacing the frame without a question, even out of warranty.

    * - 0,01% are steel bikes used on a turbo for years, sweat is known to eat through top tubes over time.
