Last July I renewed my ICU membership after it lapsed several moths previous. Last night when I tried to log into the ICU website it told me my subscription had expired.
What’s going on? My understanding of a subscription is that it valid from 12 months not six.
Anyone know the ICU membership policy.

Is it from the start of the calendar year i.e. 1st Jan to Dec 31st or is it from the time one subscribes.

It's from 1 Sept to 31 Aug anyway. Or from whenever you subscribe to 31 Aug.

So by that logic my subscription should only been valid from July 2014 to the end of august 2014. €35 for two or three months membership then one has to renew membership again for 12 months at the same price seem a bit steep in these hard economic times where every cent counts.

@ tychoo . If you played in the leagues or tournaments in 2014 in ireland then officially you must be an icu member and you made a late payment for your subscription , if you had no rated game activity in late 2013 and first half of 2014 then you argument that you paid 35 euro for 2-3 months is acceptable

I guess there has to be a cut-off period; there'll always be someone stung, even if it's someone (say) registering for Kilkenny when the year-end is December; they'd have to register again for Bunratty.

The online payment portal clearly shows the period you're subscribing for. If you've no games in Jul/Aug 2014, maybe drop the ICU a line to see if they'll deem that you paid for Sep 14-Aug 15 instead?

Perhaps a bit more clarity is required in the shop section of the ICU website regarding renewals as joining at any other time of the year seems to be penalized.

But it clearly says what period you're joining for? 1 Sep 14 to 31 Aug 15 is just under ICU Subscription Fees. And again when you click on your category, it tells you when membership is valid from and to. I'm not sure how this could be clearer?

It'd get very awkward if you started allowing part-year membership as people would join two months before the year end despite having played a few tournaments. Or a rolling membership would be awkward from accounts and budgeting viewpoints I'd say.

Had another look at the shop page I clicked on the standard 2014-15 fee it says the subscription of €35 is “Valid” i.e. this is the price we charge between these dates for membership.
Where those it say this is the annual sub and you must renew on the 1/09/2019. this is where I believe there should be better clarity

Before you click on the shop page, there's a heading "ICU Subscription Fees 2014-15: Sep 1 2014 → Aug 31 2015"

When you click in, it says "Valid from: 2014-09-01" and "Valid to 2015-08-31"

All I know it I’m out of pocket after I paid full membership and two month later asked to pay membership again for the same price. Sucks

This is untrue, the subscriptions lasts from Sep - Aug AND doesn't become invalid until a few months after Aug (I think it was December). So you would have had more than 2 months of membership.

The reason is some people pay via a club which means that their subscription could be received later than Aug.
