    Hi there

I'm shortly moving to a new house and want to transfer my phone and broadband from my current address to the new address.

I am aware of the following site to do this http://support.eircom.net/movinghouse/

    However...

The new house is in the sticks/bog and the address of the property is exactly the same as about six of our neighbours. There are no nice house numbers such as exist in civilization for me to differentiate my property from my neighbours'. How do I let you know which of these properties I want my account transferred to?

The previous owner did have Eircom phone and broadband. If I had his account number would that help you identify the property?

To complicate matters slightly, the former owner now lives in the property next door and has another Eircom account in that property.

Finally, how far in advance do I need to let you know I'm moving? I intend to be in the property in the next two to three weeks.

    Hi r3nu4l

In the event of the area you are moving to not having house numbers I highly recommend not arranging this via the online application but rather with eircoms moving house team on free phone 1901.

If you have the previous owners phone number before you call this really would help a lot. The fact that the previous owner moved their number should not complicate things as long as you inform the representative you speak to of this highlighting that you have the old number for the house you are moving to.

An account move can take up to 30 days so I advise calling the moving house team as soon as possible.

    Thanks
    Al

    Thanks All. I'll try that.

    / Aside

30 days! You have to be joking?!? That's totally unacceptable.

I know there's nothing you can do about it but seriously, pass that on to someone who should know. There is no way in hell it should take any more than 5 to 10 days. Even that would be a bit 'Paddy Irishman' in terms of ridiculousness.

I'll get onto it today and see how long it takes. I'll post back here.

Once again, I know there's nothing you can do about it. Just venting :)

    No worries r3nu4l

30 days is really worst case scenario. Basically if an engineer is required to install a line the lead time is 10 working days and until a line is installed an order for broadband cannot be made which has a lead time of five working days. Number swap also can take up to three working days.

    Thanks
    Al
