    I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. I purchased my under electric blanket 5yrs ago. It was expensive, it is one of those that is covered in fleece to make it more comfortable. But recently the wires in it really hurt when I lie down, to the extent that it is hard to get to sleep. Any feedback welcome.

    Buy a new one. Or put old in cupboard.

    I actually bought a plug-in timer in argos so as to save me having to go up the stairs and switch it on. Makes going to bed even better cos it's like a surprise waiting for me every night. (Jesus that's incredibly lazy of me. Hit home as I typed it!)

    It's not lazy it's genius. The only reason I don't do that is because some nights I'm not there and I don't want it on for safety reasons. I've also got a 15 tog duvet so the heat is really kept in. Love it

    Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but;
    Got to be careful not to leave a heavy coat or similar on the bed, especially when using a timer, because you are not there to see it being switched on.

    My husband is the one who leaves crap on his side of the bed and I only have a single electric blanket because he hates getting into a warm bed. Super king bed so him and all his dung may as well be in a different parish. It's great!

    That actually sounds dangerous. In fairness 5 years is probably its lifespan. You are putting a sheet over it I take it?

    Buy a new one, but keep the old one as an ordinary blanket, or donate it to the dog. :D
