Hi guys. Looking for some guidance. Currently have sky+ HD but for various reasons looking to move to free TV. Can I just swap in a freesat receiver for the sky box? Is there any combo freesat / saorview boxes out there or will I end up with 2 recievers?

    Thanks.

Yeah ts just a matter of changing the box if you wanted to. You could also use the Sky box although the channels on the EPG is then all over the place regarding the free channels that is. A UK sub card can be got on Adverts and that will organise the ITVs BBCs etc to some degree. If you are looking for the Irish channels you will need a separate Saorview box or a Saorview TV used in conjunctioin with an aerial. There is of course a combi box which IMO are not great as of yet, either way if you cancel SKY and want the Irish channels you will need an aerial.

Have a look at this site it will give you a good idea to what you need and what you can get. http://www.freetv.ie/

If your TV is recent, it might be Saorview approved or some degree of compatibility. You will need an UHF aerial - Go to Saorview.ie for details of how to receive it.

For the satellite channels, Freeat is the best from a users point of view, but FTA receivers are cheaper, and combi ones incorporate Saorview. EPG might be a problem with these.
