What is going on with the landcruiser? Price last year for a new one was €36k

    Now its over 40!

There are 131 landcruisers going for €35k they cost less than that in 2013 new!

I was told it's something to do with vrt

Ridiculous tho. Why would you buy a second hand machine thats not any cheaper than it was when new?

Because it's cheaper than a new one?

Used commercial vehicles are fetching ridiculous prices at the moment due to a shortage of supply.

Look at the Pajero instead maybe?

Youd have to be stupid to pay €35k for a 131 in 2015 that cost €36k in 2013

What will you pay for a 131 one now? If it's not the going rate, you won't get one.

Would inporting from England/Japan be a option these days ?? Not really £36000 for a 2012 on piston heads and only 7 available

Landcruiser depreciates approx 4k a year.

So 131 now id pay 28k (incl vat)

People with the new pajero saying its after getting easier on the juice. People getting 30+ mpg now. This true?

    They do, do they?

Seems they don't if a 2 year old is being advertised for about what they were advertised as new 2 years ago.

But thanks for the concrete info on depreciation on a Land Cruiser. I'll remember it next time I'm forecasting an RV, and won't have to bother my Toyota dealer for a 2nd opinion.

You seem to have missed the point completely. The 4k figure was about right up to last few years.

Lack of supply is causing this recent glut in price. They seriously overpriced in 2nd hand market at mo leaving new only option. In 3 years time when country back in s boom and landcruisers everywhere the guy who paid 35k for a 131 will ferl like an idiot when his jeep niw worth 15

Pajero's are the cheaper option, and IMO just as good, good engine, looks and proportion. The latest landcruiser lwb is an awful barge of a thing. I think the older pajero's (1990's) were ahead of the landcruiser. But that's for another day.

Pajaro was never close to landcruiser. The landcruisers were always much better quality machines than them.

Theres a complete void of commercials from 2008-2012 due to the aul recession, especially 4x4s , driving prices higher. Also the vrt change in 2010 that pretty much made them all 13.3% to register instead of the 200 euro flat rate. The N1 factory commercials only became a thing in 2013 so theres still a massive gap there, 2007 vehicles are plentiful , but anything between that and 2013 and theres little choice in it

Didn't even know they still sold the Pajaro here, the last one I saw was a 12 reg and even that was a rarity. Is it the same model or is there a new one since then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

It's been reheated again. Must be 15 years out now?

184 Pajero/Shogun commercials regged last year (+5 passenger)
    64 in 2013 (+9 passenger)
    62 in 2012 (+42 passenger)

That's what I was thinking, hasn't changed much over the years. Those ones registered must be up the country as I haven't seen one down here.

I remember back in 1990s the Pajero was a big seller here but like the rest of the Mitsubishi range it got old and tired yet the new price kept going up.

A lot of the stuff you'd see in the 90s were fresh Japanese imports.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

True but there was still a fair amount of them on the road. They are as rare as a honest politician these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

There's more Pajero's around my area than landcruisers. Local mitsubishi dealer being the reason. I think the new Pajero is a nice looking jeep!

But would you be happy driving a Mitsubishi Wa**er? :D
