    Hi.
I've been lucky enough to inherit just under 50ac of farmland in north county dublin. I would like to farm in some capacity myself at some point so am holding onto it but want to rent it out in the interim. knowing nothing about letting land i'm figuring going through an auctioneer is my best bet. should i just to a local town eg swords and find an auctioneer there or are there specific auctioneers/land agents who cover a larger area eg north leinster etc
    ta

The ifj or the farming indo would be a good place to get a few names of auctioneers in your area. Highest bid rarely equals best tenant. Five year plus lease will give you a big reduction in tax on your rental income. A few terms in the lease contract relating to maintenance of fertility and boundaries would be worthwhile also.

you could put up an ad in whites of lusk, or WBD machinery in Ballyboughal
or theres plenty of auctioneers that would love to handle it from swords all the way to ashbourne if they don't normally handle land stay away. the only one i can name off the top of my head is in terrenure (jp&m doyle)

    St Margarets.
The JP+M auctioneer is one i've come across before alright and was thinking them - though probably prefer someone more local like Swords.
Whites - is that whites agri north of swords? havent been up there - will have a look.

I would suggest Ronald Duff in Ratoath they deal a lot in agricultural land.
