    Hi,

Do any solicitors out there actually find LinkedIn any use when looking to move jobs or find work etc?

Im not signed up, but will do if it's worth it. Ive heard good things from other industries but no feedback from legal specifically.

    Any views?

    Thanks

Personally, I don't know of anyone who ever got a law job through Linkedin.

WRT other industries, I've heard rumblings but that's all.

I heard of a graduate being scouted for (low tier) paralegal work once. That's it really.

I have been sent requests from several 'legal recruiters', some in Ireland and some in the UK. I'm not sure if they intend on contacting me or if they just want to be on my radar. I'm not qualified yet anyway.

I have found it exceptional for networking

It's not particularly useful for entry-level positions in law.

It's probably more useful if you're in practice or in a role for a long time, and trying to move forward.

I am quite often headhunted on it but I work in a niche area. If I ever do decide to move, I'll definitely be using linkedin to do it. I think it's an invaluable resource.

Come to think of it, there aren't many good resources for entry-level positions in Ireland that I can think of. The Law Society website seems to be the best.

Although LinkedIn is totally useless for getting training contracts in the first place, it can be useful for low level solicitor roles - I know many trainee solicitors in large commercial firms that have been headhunted for newly qualified positions before they even qualified (positions in other firms and in-house) directly through LinkedIn. It certainly doesn't hurt to have an account provided you keep it up to date etc.

Meh, I recently applied for part-time document reviewing work that I saw on there.

No response after more than a week.
