Thermostats not working properly

I have an oil burner, and when I turn the heat on the rads come on both upstairs & downstairs even though most times I only want the rads to be on downstairs.

Yesterday I experimented, I turned off the dial downstairs and turned on the dial upstairs, but again rads came on it both areas.

So basically whether I have the temperature dials on or off the rads will always be on when the heating is on.

    Any ideas?

I would guess your thermostats are stuck in the on position. When you are twisting them listen to see if you can hear a click when it goes over or under the current temperature. If not then your thermostats might be faulty. I seen that same problem in a house a few weeks ago

Not that I know of. I'm only here 9 months and in that time it's been acting like I described above.

I can hear the click on both thermostats when I try to position them.

The motorized valves they control maybe left in the manual position or maybe even stuck open.
