    Folks

Just got valet done, xmas present for myself.

Seats are still, 12 hours later, quite damp, guess the weather doesnt help the drying process.

Anything I should do or just leave them? Presume leaving engine running is not a good idea?

    Weather definitely wont help.

No, not a good idea to leave it running for a few hours....certainly, if youve to drive it a long distance, get a plastic bag and sit on it with the heating full blast and the windows slightly open to allow moisture out, will help.

Best thing to do is to go to the likes of 'Home Store & More' and grab a few dehumidifier bags - can get a few for a couple of quid. Throw two on each seat and they should absorb a lot of the moisture overnight!

If it only damp run the car with the heaters on full pointing down to the feet with the seats all the way forward so the heat goes under and takes the moisture out the windows (open the windows an inch)

Half an hour to an hour is all that will be needed presuming you have good heaters.

Right so. The car is dry. It took a few days and running the engine with heaters on full windows open etc. all recommended by the above.

Only problem is now there is a damp smell in the car.

Any ideas on how to cure. Or will it just clear itself?

Baking Soda thrown on the affected areas and vacuum'd up shortly afterwards is supposed to work....but no experience as id wet vac.

Hot water extraction will cure it, rent a machine or ask a professional.

The weather is a pain alright but it shouldn't take a few days to dry the seats.

You could easily end up with mould to be honest if they are wet that long. Find someone to give them a quick go over with the extraction machine and dry them fully.

Maybe someone who will only charge you a small price as the car is clean etc.

Personally I'd bring it back if I wasn't happy. I'd have no problem at all if someone brought a car back to me. I'd be happy to put it right.

    Update

I checked the boot today, the bottom of the boot (removable) was still damp and the underneath area where the spare tyre is was holding water. So i wiped down and cleaned the water and brought the floor of the boot into the house so it could dry indoors with heating. Hopefully thats it now lesson learnt.

Damp smell seems mostly gone now. or I am getting use to it :o
