You can download Windows boot images without having to upgrade your existing operating system.

Don't want to stream into the realms of charter breach, but I know I lost my windows 7 disc in a recent house move, but had the registration key stored online. Got myself a boot image, burnt it to disc and it was fine.

I'm pretty sure you can even load windows boot images to USB flash drives now at this stage

You download widows 8.1 bootable USB straight from Microsoft, and windows 7 bootable iso from digital river, but you ll need keys to activate it. Digital river is also authorised by Microsoft, so your getting genuine iso
